Our first event at Christmas in Babbacombe.

And what a day it was!

There was the usual panic, stress and running around like headless chickens in the lead up. Our first Christmas Event. Unfortunately we had one major issue with missing equipment which hampered efforts somewhat. Not to be beaten though we got creative and pulled together what we did have.

The mood shapes, bean bags, sensory bottles, mirrors, bells, glow pebbles and spikey flashing balls looked great in the dusky light of the gazebo and were certainly a huge hit with the kidsĀ and even the odd parent or two.

We have to say so was the moon sand our Education Director Elizabeth Taylor made to bring along. We had many a ‘sandcastle’ made that afternoon! It’s amazing how a simple mix of baby oil and flour (moon sand) can provide so many hours of fun and entertainment.

It was great to watch relationships between the children form, children who up to that point had never met!

There were lot’s of other things going on around us from school choirs to mulled wine and a rather jolly Christmas Mickey mouse was also seen wandering about!

Over all it was a fantastic afternoon at the Christmas Event in Babbacombe with lots going on. A HUGE thank you to the organisers for putting on a great event and for having us there. It might not have gone to plan for us but we had lot’s of fun and enjoyed meeting lots of lovely people along the way.

We’re looking forward to seeing it bigger and better for next year.

We’ve also learnt a lot from the event about our set up, transporting our equipment and what more we can do in the future so will be looking into this in the new year.

For now though, we did it! From idea, to business planning, to funding and finally to a product and service. A year later we finally managed to get out there.

Now to do it a lot more!!
